Abstract

Situation and Boundaries:—Hassan District is situated in the South-Western part of the New Mysore State. the greatest length is from North to South, about 80 miles while the greatest breadth is front East to West about 72 miles. the area of the District is 2,618 sq. miles. The District is bounded on the North by Chickmagalur District, on the East by Tumkur and Mandya Districts; on the South by Mysore and Coorg Districts ; and on the West by South Kanara District. the District on the whole is situated at an elevation of 3,000 feet above mean Sea Level.
