Draft Annual Plan, 1990-91 Section I and II Planning Commission

Abstract

The Seventh Five Year Plan period which commenced from 1985-86 is now coming Introduction, to a close in March 1990. As the Eighth Five Year Plan period would begin thereafter, the State Government had well in advance taken on hand the task of formulating the new Plan in anticipation of the instructions and guidelines from the Planning Commission. It was felt that new initiatives would require to be taken in the Eighth Five Year Plan in all major sectors of development. In order to formulate broad guidelines and fresh approaches in various sectors under the guidance of the State Planning Board (SPB), 20 Study Groups were constituted, each of which was headed by a member of the Board. These members who chaired the Study Group discussions were selected according to their expertise in certain sectors. They were aided by the Secretaries of the concerned departments.
