dc.description.abstractThe area of the Kutch State, including the two Ranns, is 16,724 sq. miles. The population according to the 1951 census is about 5,68,000. It consists of 4,54,000 rural population and 1,13,000 urban population. the average rainfall of the State varies from 12 to 14 inches. The maximum temperature is 107°F and the minimum 40°F. the cattle population of the State according to the 1955-56 census is 9,11,433 including sheep and goats. The total cropped area of the State in 1955-56 was 12,47,553 acres, out of which about 99,311 acres was irrigated, including the area irrigated by wells.
