Abstract

There will be 141 Primary Schools with an enrolment of 18,300 students by the end, of Fourth Five Year Plan. 30 New junior Basic schools are proposed to be opened in addition to strengthening of existing schools. It has been decided to achieve 100% enrolment in the age group of 6-11 years by the end of 1975-76. Accommodation both residential and hon-residential including clearing of back-log of Fourth Plan period is proposed to be made under Fifth Plan. Provision for supply of books, publication of text books and midday meals are also made. The enrolment at Primary stage is expected to be 29,100 at the end. Of Fifth Plan At present there are only 4 Pre-primary schools functioning in this Territory. Considering the need for pre-primary education for about 5,000 students in the age group of 4-6 years, it is proposed to open 50 Preprimary sections i.e., 10 sections per. year during the Fifth Five Year Plan. Provision has been made for establishment of model primary schools one each in community Block and one in the Municipal area so as to serve a demonstration center; similarly provisory has been made to raise about 10% of the schools with in enrolment of 300-400. or more to optimum levels. Such schools will also function as demonstration centers and provide some extension services to the schools in the neighborhood.
