Abstract

The Seventh Five Year Plan has customized in Meghalaya a substantial backlog of development. In spite of the efforts made through previous plans, in areas like literacy, rural electrification. Pro- vision of drinking water to villages, the achievement of the State has been below the national average. the thrust of Seventh Plan has therefore, been on infrastructure development, upliftment through increased production and productivity and also poverty all the first year of the Seventh Plan, the State Government is initiated a Programme for the integrated development of one hundred villages, giving emphasis on the three aspect mentioned above the efforts the investment required to accelerate process of development tire greater in view of the fact that the State is far removed from production and supply of most of the vital physical input.
