Second Five Year Plan Progress Report for 1958-59 Himachal Pradesh Administration

Abstract

The total outlay (revised) in the Second Five Year Plan of Himachal Pradesh is of the order of Rs. 1571.40 lakhs. In view of the Pradesh being a hilly terrain with under-developed means of communications, the Second Plan continues to lay greater emphasis on the development of roads and road-transport which is of obvious significance to efficient and speedy excretion of development projects. The Pradesh’s Second Plan is also characterized by the inclusion of schemes relating to (i) welfare of backward classes, (ii) social welfare and (iii) labour and labour welfare. Community Development programme as also the development of statistics and local bodies have been brought under the fold of planning for the first time.
