dc.description.abstractShri Rajiv Gandhi, Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Development Council (NDC) welcomed the members of the Council, and stated that the Mid-Term assessment of the Seventh Plan, proposed to be discussed at the meeting, provided the opportunity to take an overview of the country’s economy. The Prime Minister pointed out that every meeting of the NDC was a reaffirmation of our national commitment to planning, of the national consensus on planning. Planning was aimed at bringing to bear the powers of reason and the fruits of science and technology on the development process.
