Abstract

"Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in India: Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in India is basically naxalite communist insurgency. The areas which suffer from the greatest illiteracy, poverty and overpopulation especially in the tribal belts are affected. In India, its’ span is in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal states. A key characteristic of the affected regions is non-diversified economies that are solely primary sector based. Agriculture, sometimes supplemented with mining or forestry, is the mainstay of the economy, which is often unable to support rapid increases in population. The region has significant natural resources, including mineral, forestry and potential hydroelectric generation capacity."
