dc.description.abstractIn the National Forest Policy enunciated by the Govt. of India in 1952, a functional classification of the forests has been made as follows Protection forests i.e those forests which must be preserved or created for physical or climatic considerations. National forests i. e. those which have to be maintained and managed to meet the needs of defence, communication, industry and other general purposes of public importance.
