Plan Resources and Outlay A Review

Abstract

In May 3958 the Planning Commission placed before the National Development Council a Memorandum on the Appraisal and Prospects of the Second Five Year Plan. This document attempted an assessment of internal and external resources for the Second Five Year Plan and, in the light of the progress expected to be made during the first three years of the Plan, it indicated the likely achievements over the five-year period. The main conclusion reached was that there had to be a marked intensifica tion of the effort to increase agricultural production and to mobilise the internal resources of the country if the essential objectives were to be realised.
