Abstract
There were 35 primary schools in this territory at the end of the First Plan. 36 new primary schools and four Junior Basic Schools were established during the Second Plan up to the end of August 1960, raising the total number of primary/junior basic schools to 75. Five of the 35 primary schools existing at the end of the First Plan have been converted into Junior Basic Schools. There were 47 single teacher primary schools, 21 double teacher primary schools and 7 double/more teacher junior basic schools at the end of August 1960 as against 27 single teacher primary schools and 8 double teacher primary schools at the end of the First Plan. The number of primary/junior basic teachers arose from 92 at the end of the First Plan to 144 at the end of August 1960. 13 new primary/junior basic school buildings had been constructed during the second Five Year Plan up to August 1960.
