A volume containing a detailed account of the Development Programme to be undertaken in the Second Five-Year Plan (1956-57 to 1960-61) in the former Bombay State was published in September 1956. On account of States Reorganisation it became necessary to prepare a revised Plan for the new Bombay State. This was done by excluding schemes pertaining to the four Karnatak Districts and to Abu Taluka which no longer remained in the Bombay State and by adding schemes pertaining to Kutch, Saurashtra, Vidarbha and Marathawada which form part of the new State. A provisional list of Plan schemes of the new Bombay State was prepared in November 1956, by putting together the schemes of its component parts.
