Abstract
The total length of Canals in Haryana is nearly 11000 Kms. out of which 3OO Kms. was already lined before the State took up The work of lining under modernization of canals in 1978 under World Bank aid. Under phase I & II during the period 1978 to 1983 and 1983 to 1992 about 6700 Kms. length of canals corresponding to unlined area of 522 M for at an outlay of Rs. 296. 4R 1 corers has been lined. This resulted into saving of about 2266 Rs. of water which provided additional annual irrigation of about 132 thousand hectares, which would result in additional projection of Rs. 73.00 crore annually. Evaluation studies done confirm that the objectives set out in the project have been realized phase-II of project stands closed in March, 1992.
