dc.description.abstractMeghalaya came into being o.i April 2, 1970 as an Autonomous State and became a full State on 21st Janu ,ry, 1972. the State is bounded by Bangladesh on the south and partly on the west. The State has common boundary with the Assim State in the remaining areas. The State covers a land surface of approximately 22,500 square kilometres consisting mostly of a mountain us terrain. the State can be divided into three natural region"". the steep slopes on the souch facing Bangladtih, the centr -I tableland and inilde slopes on the north adjoining the Assam plains.
