dc.description.abstractThe two Autonomous Hill District viz. Karbi Anglong find North Cachar Bills constitute the The Areas of Assail. As per 1971 Census figure, this area has a population of 4.55 lakhs with 76-000 persons in the North Cachar Hills District and the remaining 3.79 lakhs in the Karbi Anglong District. Out of this population, 57.7% belong to Scheduled Tribes, 2.3% to Scheduled Castes and the remaining 40% belong to other categories.
