Abstract

The Committee on Transport Policy and Coordination was set up on 22nd July, 1959. The Government resolution which sets out the terms of reference of the Committee is reproduced at Appendix 1. The Committee has been entrusted with the following tasks; to recommend a long-term transport policy for the country having regard to the various economic and other relevant factors; against the background of the long-term policy, to define the role of the various means of transport in the next five to ten years; and to suggest suitable mechanism for the coordination of the various means of transport.
