Abstract

The Government of India have Stressed that every effort should he made to realise the goal of Universal Elementary Education in the age -group of 6 to 14 years by the end of 1982-83. The enrolment at the primary stage as on 31.8,1978 was 23913 and at the Middle Stage it was 7401, By the end of new Five Year Plan i.e. the end of March 1983, there will he 44,000 children in the age group 6 to 14 years as per the projection of population supplied by the Government of India, But the actual number may be about 46,200 due to the rehabilitation of settlers from mainland and ex-service men. Thus we are expected to provide additional schooling facilities to about 18,811 children during the plan period1978-83.
