dc.description.abstractAccording to 1971 census Bihar has an area of 1.74 lakh sq.Km. and a population of 56.35 million. While its population is 10.3% of the whole country, it accounts for about 5.3% of the area. The average density of population of this State is 324 persons per Km against 171 for the whole of India. There is, therefore, a high pressure on land.
