Abstract
The year 1966—67 marked as important landmark in the history of Indian Agriculture. During the Kharif season of that year, high yielding varieties of Paddy and Hybrid varieties of maize, Bajra and Jowar wore released for bulk sowings all over the country. Special measures wore contemplated both at the Centro and in the States to make available all the necessary inputs such as seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and credit to cultivators growing these varieties. A current appraisal of such an important programme at this initial stage was considered essential by the P.E.O. Accordingly, continuing our observations from the Rabi 1965-66 on the Emergency Food Production Drive, we studied the implementation of the Kharif Agricultural Production schemes in 75 development blocks and about 300 villages.
