The present capacity of the District Jail, Prothrapur is now 199 prisoners. The present strength is 240 which exceeds to 300 at times. At present, we don't have a separate barrack to lodge the female undertrials and convicts. The National Human Rights Commission has been stressing to have separate barracks for female prisoners. It is therefore proposed to construct separate barracks to lodge female prisoners. It is necessary to have additional barracks to lodge additional convicts and undertrials. Though 4 Watch Towers have been constructed, there is no footpath to link these Watch Towers.
