dc.description.abstractThe coral islands of the Arabian Sea known as Laccadive, Minicoy and Amindivi Islands are twenty in number including the bird island of Pitti. of these, ten are inhabited and nine are uninhabited but are cultivated. Pitti is neither inhabited nor cultivated. These islands lieu about 200/S metres off the Kerala coast between 8 and 12 -13 nor latitude and between 70°and 74°east longitude. the entire inhabitants of the islands are Muslims and are classified as Scheduled Tribes.
