Abstract

The integration of 22 princely States and the then part ‘C’ State of Ajmer Stare into the present State of Rajasthan brought with it many sided problems of economic backwardness and social injustice,, the State inherited traditional methods of cultivation and varying systems of lend management where the cultivator had no scope and incentive for increasing yield and economic prosperity. The physio geographic al conditions of the State further aggravated the problems of food and water both for irrigation and drinking. The communication facilities' were highly inadequate to carry any impact of social services. The State logged much behind in literacy and medical facilities were mostly deficient. It was under these basic problems of economy and social structure that the State witnessed the dawn of National Planning.
