Abstract

Chambal project is an inter-state, project between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. It comprises of three dams, viz. Gandhisagar Ranapratap Sagar and Jawahar Sagar across the river chambal and barrage at Kota below Jawahar sagar dam with two canals taking off from it one on right bank and other of the left bank for irrigating an area of 7.00 lakhs acres in M.P and 7.00 lakhs acres in Rajasthan. Power is proposed to be generated on all the three dams to the extent of 80,000 K.Ws. at G.S. Dam 90,000 K.Ws. at Ranapratap Sagar dam and 60,000 K.Ws at Jawahar Sagar dam at 60% load factor.
