Abstract

The proposals for the Miscellaneous Sector under Rajasthan’s Second Five-Year Plan (July 1955) outline a total outlay of Rs. 380 lakhs, aimed at improving administrative efficiency, agricultural management, and local development. Key initiatives include consolidating approximately 9 lakh acres of cultivated land benefiting from the Chambal Project in Kotah and Bundi districts, managed by a newly proposed Directorate of Consolidation of Holdings. A significant allocation for general administration addresses the need for additional staff recruitment and training to manage expanded governmental activities at district and headquarters levels. Local development works, including primary schools and health facilities, receive substantial funding, reflecting a focus on infrastructure and community welfare. Token provisions are also included for transitioning to a decimal currency system and adopting the metric system for weights and measures. Overall, the plan represents a pragmatic and holistic strategy to strengthen governance, enhance agricultural efficiency, and foster sustainable local development in Rajasthan.
