Abstract

The request of the Planning Commission for the preparation of the State Development Report was received by the State Planning Board of Kerala as early as in 2002. The Planning Board thereupon convened a meeting in which representatives of the Centre for Development Studies (CDS); the Centre for Management Development (CMD), Thiruvananthapuram and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Kozhikode; attended. It was decided at that meeting that CDS would be the nodal agency in the preparation of the Report and that CMD and IIM would participate and collaborate in the preparation of reports on the various topics selected. The important areas on which the Report should pay specific attention were also discussed and decided upon at that meeting. The Director of CDS was requested to act as the coordinator of the task of preparation of the Consolidated Report on the basis of write-ups received from the faculties of CDS, CMD, IIM as well as from external experts invited for the purpose.
