Abstract

Except for the construction of Bundhis and new tanks, good progress was made in various shramdan items during the year. The programme of construction of Bundhis is of special importance in Jhansi division and some parts of Allahabad division. The pace of implementation, therefore needs to be stepped up in these areas. As regards construction of new tanks the scope docs not exist to the same degree in every division. However, greater attention should be directed towards it in the interest of food Production Programme. Target fixed for extension of gut for the year 1962-63 has been overreached. The extension and maintenance of guls in respect of canals and tube-wells is particularly important because of the considerable irrigation potential which has still to be utilised.
