Development Schemes Itemisation and Unit Specification for Physical Targets

Abstract

For the sake of uniformity in reporting physical progress of plan schemes by State Governments and other agencies it was considered necessary to itemise the physical targets and to specify their appropriate units for all types of schemes presently included in the various plans. The Sixth Joint Conference of Central and State Statisticians recommended that such a list itemising the physical targets with their related units suitably specified, should be prepared and placed before a Standing Committee for detailed consideration. In pursuance of these recommendations and following the current practices in some of the States, more particularly those of Bombay, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, a detailed and fairly exhaustive list was prepared. The list was circulated to the various Divisions of the Planning Commission and after incorporating their comments, it was circulated to the State Statistical Bureaus.
