dc.description.abstractIndian agricultural system has been widely acclaimed for its substantial success in providing stability to the Indian economy and in supporting its modernisation. The quality of its resilience in the face of adversity has also been recognised. Even though the long term growth in Indian Agricultural production has been the order of 2.8% falling short of the target of 4% per annum, Indian agricultural system has provided food security, raw material for industry and support for export, all of which has helped achieve an annual growth of 5% for the economy as a whole.
