Abstract

For purposes of planning and development the State has been divided into five economic regions viz., Hill, Eastern, Bundelkhand, Central and Western, by grouping contiguous districts having similar cropping pattern, population density, geo-physical conditions and agro-climatic factors. The Hill Region of the State, comprising 8 districts viz., Nainital, Almora, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Tehri—Garhwal, Pauri—Garhwal, Uttarkashi and Dehradun lies in the Central Zone of the Himalayas.
