Abstract

The approved outlay for the Ninth Five Year Plan was Rs.23400 crores at 1996-97 prices which was more than 90% of the Eighth Plan level of Rs. 12300 crores. Against annual approved outlays of Rs.31145.00 crores, expenditure (anticipated) has increased by 2.1 percent at Rs.31810.07 crores. In real terms this is 11 percent more at (Rs.25981.91 crores) than the Ninth Plan approved outlay of Rs.23400 crores, although still almost double that during Eighth Plan.
