Abstract

The third edition of this Handbook which follows the same general pattern of the earlier editions, presents information relating to the electricity supply industry in India brought up-to-date. Some of the chapters have been revised and some rewritten and certain new but allied subjects like the history of power development, integrated power system and the manufacture of heavy electrical plant have been discussed. The technical data on major power systems in operation or under construction, given in the appendices have been brought up-to-date and presented in greater detail. Two maps of southern India together with details of power potential of the rivers therein have been added. The regional power maps present pictures of the power systems as on 31-3-54.
