dc.description.abstractAccording to 1971 census data, the Autonomous Hill districts of Assail- Karbi Angjong and North Chachar Mills cover 19.3 of the total Geographical area and 3.11% of the total population of .assail. It is but natural that fiche Scheduled Tribes constitute- the majority of the population (about 58 % ) in the Hill -irons of Assam. The Hill areas present thick jungles, formula stops of mountains, remarkable topography with sure tropical Geographical isolation and deific/it nature of terrain. The problem of transport and communication put formidable obstacle to the development’ Programmes.
