Selected Educational and Related Statistics at a Glance (Plan and Non-Plan)

Abstract

This Section contains statistics regarding growth in the per capita national income, per capita expenditure on education, proportion of national income spent on e education, the percentage of total budget expenditure of Centre and the States spent on education and scientific departments from the years 1950-51 to 1968- 69. It also gives a comparative picture of education in various States in regard to enrolment ratios at the primary, middle and high/higher secondary levels, professional training of teachers, literacy percentages, pupil-teacher ratios at the primary, middle and high/higher secondary levels, average annual cost- per pupil in different types of schools and the percentage of population belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.
