In relation to the area under study, control areas would need to be selected. In a study of such control area an area which was not irrigated but conditions in which were in other ways similar to those in the irrigated areas should also be surveyed to help in the estimation of not results. The number of control areas and their size would depend upon the extent of variation in conditions in the area under investigation.
