dc.description.abstractDuring the two decades since Independence, there has Deen a phenomenal growth in public expenditure, primarily owing to the big plans that have been launched and also as a result of the increase in administrative agencies and personnel. The following table illustrates the extent to which public expenditure has increased during the last 17 years, thereby bringing out in bold relief the expansion in the activities of Government.
