Abstract

Nursery Education covering children of 3 to 5 years of age is very important. During the Second Five-Year Plan, it was intended to add these classes in all the ten Government Normal Schools for girls then in existence but owing to the over all cut in the Second Plan ceiling these classes could be opened only in three Government Normal Schools for girls at Sitapur, Budaun and Jhansi. During the Third Plan it has been decided to have at least one nursery school at each district headquarter. This will be done by attaching nursery classes to six Government Basic Training Schools for girls and by opening fifteen Nursery classes on grant-in-aid basis under a separate scheme in such districts where there are no such schools.
