Abstract

75.4% holdings are below one hectare (1995-96) in UP while the all India figures for this is 61.6%. Uttar Pradesh ranks 12th. Per capita net area sown is 0.10 hectare in 2000-2001 in UP. The corresponding all India figure is 0.14 hectare. Uttar Pradesh ranks 10th. Productivity (2003-04) of wheat, rice, sugarcane, and potato are 27.94, 21.87, 555.41 and 209.09 (qt/hectare) respectively. The all India figure for the same are 27.13,20.77,589.86, and 181.13 respectively. Uttar Pradesh ranks 3rd, 8th, 8th and 4th respectively. In Uttar Pradesh 16.3% area is under commercial crops in the year 2002-03 while the all India figure for the same period is 24.9%. Uttar Pradesh ranks 11th in this respect.
