Abstract

NEFA is deficit in its requirement of food and therefore, the Agricultural Production Programme is directed towards a progressive reduction of deficit. Based on a population projection of Rs. 4.20 lakhs at the end of the Fourth Five Year Plan, the requirement of foodgrains is estimated at round about 94,000 tons against the anticipated production level of 73,500 tons at the end of 1970-71.
