dc.description.abstractElectric power, which is the most versatile form of energy, has always been recognised as one of the basic infrastructures necessary for industrial and agricultural development and as an amenity that is necessary for raising the standard of living of the people. Even with some shift in emphasis to agriculture, irrigation, small scale and medium scale industries, the demand for electrical energy continues to rise rapidly with the result that the power programme occupies a place of preeminence in any planning exercise.
