Abstract
The progress report of the Fourth Five-Year Plan in Andhra Pradesh (1966–67 Assessment and 1967–68 Program) provides a detailed overview of budget allocations, sectoral developments, and ongoing projects in the state. With a total plan outlay of Rs. 522 crores, comprising Central assistance and state resources, priority was given to agriculture, irrigation, industrial development, education, and public health. Key achievements include significant expansion of irrigation potential through the Nagarjunasagar Project, growth in agricultural production, progress in animal husbandry and dairying, and support for small-scale and village industries. Budget provisions for 1967–68 aimed to continue productive schemes, enhance infrastructure, and promote industrial output, including mining, handlooms, and tourism. The report underscores the state’s adaptive fiscal approach to balance limited resources with strategic development objectives, focusing on economic growth, social infrastructure improvement, and regional development.
