Draft Annual Plan 1973-74 Himachal Pradesh

Abstract

The Pradesh has vast natural resources in the shape of (i) forests, (ii) rivers and streams for hydro-electric generation and irrigation, (iii) ideal climatic conditions for growing fruits and dry fruits, (iv) agricultural and cash crops, (v) minerals and (vi) fisheries, etc. Besides, tourism as an industry can also be developed in this State. Strenuous efforts to develop these would help not only in raising the standard of living of the people of this area to a level higher than that achieved in other parts of the country, but also to get a substantial contribution from Himachal Pradesh for the country as a whole. However, in order to transform this tantalising possibility into a reality, a substantial assistance would have to be provided by the Centre to the Pradesh during the transitional period.
