dc.description.abstractThe Bhandara District, which now forms a part of the new Bombay State, is bounded on the West by Nagpur District, on the North by the Balaghat and Chindwara Districts of the new Madhya Pradesh State, on the East by Durg District of the new Madhya Pradesh State and on the South by the Nagpur and Chanda Districts. The total area of the District is 3623 Sq. miles with a total population of 10,71,657 according to the 1951 Census. There are 4 towns and 1491 villages. For the purposes of administration, the District has been divided in three Tehsils or Talukas viz. Bhandara, Gondia and Sakoli. the Taluka-wise details of area, population etc.
