Abstract
The Working Group on Metropolitan Transport Services was set up by the Planning Commission at the suggestion of the Prime Minister in March, 1970. In order to make life of the workers and middle classes in urban areas a little easier the Prime Minister had indicated that it was necessary to evolve-urgently an integrated approach to the problems of public transport and that a time-bound programme should be drawn up to improve public transport services in metropolitan cities.
