Abstract

With a view to- providing developed sites to the entrepreneurs for establishment of industries with minimum loss of time, the state Govt, during the 3rd plan period introduced the scheme for Establishment of Developed Area in the State with a total outlay of Rs.25 lakhs. This programme could not proceed further due to certain procedural difficulties. Govt. decided to include the scheme in the 4th plan by developing blocks of land at Rourkela, Paradeep, Talcher, Sunabeda, Jajpur Road and Kansbahal-Rajgangpur. As a first step to this programme, an area, of 843 acres comprising of 424.43 acres of Government land, 80.27 acres of private land, 16,75 acres of communal land and 321.50 acres of forest land has been selected at Rourkela. The entire area is at different stages of acquisition. Out of this, possession to the extent of 635.57 acres of lands has already been taken over. It is proposed to extend this area, to a. 1000 acres block in due course. In addition to this selection of site and acquisition of land for the Developed Area. Projects at Paradeep, Jajpur Road, Choudwar, Jagatour etc. have been taken up in hand and preliminary work for starting developed area in remaining places would be taken up in phases. However actual development of sites will be taken up in a phased manner depending upon, actual requirement
