dc.description.abstractIt was decided to take up one major irrigation project from amongst the Plan schemes in each State. In order to ensure that the selected project would serve the requisite purpose, a condition was laid down that, in order that a project may qualify for selection, irrigation water from it should have been available at least three years prior to 1959-60. On the recommendation of the respective Chief Engineer (Irrigation), the projects were selected from nine different States
