Draft Five Year Plan 1978-83 Volume-1 Government of Goa, Daman and Diu

Abstract

While the rest of the country attained political independence in August, 1947, Goa, Daman and Din had to wait for another 14 years before being liberated from the alien Portuguese rule in December, 1961. The era of planned economic development was ushered into the country in 1951 when the First Five Year Plan was introduced; the same was brought here only in 1962-63. This territory, therefore, was behind development efforts launched in the country by about two and a. half five year plans. Nevertheless, considerable amount of socioeconomic development has taken pln.ee since liberation through implementation of the plan schemes.
