Abstract

The annual plan 1989-90 which marks the terminal year of the Seventh Five Year Plan represents a continuous process in terms of objectives, socio-economic policies, investment and benefit targets as visualised in the Seventh Plan, Mid-term appraisal and the performance of the economy in 1988-89. While seeking to achieve high growth, the plan lays emphasis on crucial social and economic programmes designed for the upliftment of the weaker sections of the society; fresh employment avenues as also improvement in productivity, increased efficiency in use of resources, modernisation and upgradation of technology and completion of projects on time.
