dc.description.abstractThis Department deals with the Community Development Programme. It also deals with special programmes and schemes like Guaranteed Rural employment Programme, Food for work Programme, Rural Engineering Service and Applied nutrition Programme sponsored by the Department of Rural Development, Ministry of agriculture & Irrigation, Government of India. The Community Development Programme which was initiated in 1952 covered the whole State by October, 1963. Out of 458 blocks in which the State has been divided, 126 are Tribal Development Blocks which have been placed under the administrative control of Tribal Welfare Department.
