Abstract

The prevailing long dry spell during September and October also affected the coverage under Gram crop, which fell to 3.05 lakh hectare as against a normal coverage of about 6.00 lakh hectare. Widespread, medium to heavy rains were received in the last week of December, which boosted the sowing of wheat. The intensity of rains was less in rainfed areas of districts Mohindergarh, Bhiwani, Hisar and part of Rohtak. In view of this, growth of Gram also suffered badly. Besides, hailstorms received in the 3rd week of December also affected toria crop in Tohana and Kaithal sub-divisions.
