Airports and Airport Facilities
The entire planning of the airports and airport facilities has necessarily to be based on the anticipated growth of air traffic as well as the type of aircraft proposed to be inducted by airline operators. Since the major factor in this regard would be the induction of new aircraft by Air-India and Indian Airlines and introduction of additional routes, these airlines were requested to indicate their plans in this regard. The organisations/departments providing facilities at the airports and enroute were thereafter called upon to examine the plans of Air India and Indian Airlines and project their future requirements for the provision of facilities essential to handle the projected traffic economically and safely. Department of Electronics was also requested to submit a working paper on the expected technological developments during the next 15 years which could be inducted into the Civil Aviation in the country. The Working Group received working papers from all the organisations.
